Vegan Buns with Strawberry Jam Filling

Method

We’d like to thank our good friend Dimitra Katsara for her great recipe!!!

  • Preheat oven to 170* C (338* F) Fan.
  • Place a pot over medium to high heat.
  • Add the water, sugar, orange rind and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil.
  • As soon as the sugar melts, remove from heat.
  • Stir and set aside to cool.
  • In a bowl, combine the beer, corn oil, sugar, vanilla, flour and baking powder.
  • Stir until the mixture comes together to form a nice dough.
  • Divide the dough in to 30 small balls.
  • Fill each ball with 1 teaspoon strawberry jam and transfer to a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Gently press on them with your hands.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes.
  • When ready, remove from oven and dip each little ball in to the syrup.
  • Serve, sprinkled with grated coconut.
