5+1 festive recipes to make with the kids

We may decorate our house every year to get into the holiday mood, but the truth is that the real Christmas spirit starts from somewhere else. From where? But, from our kitchen of course! That’s where the aromas start filling our house and lifting our spirits – not just for the holidays, but for every season of the year! The Greek Christmas honey cookies -melomakarona- and almond snow balls -kourabiedes- are the cause… From that point on, though, the imagination rules and makes us come up with unique recipes to impress our kids, friends, even ourselves! So, this year I got into the holiday mood early, having two main goals: To prepare delicious recipes, which I will share with you during the festive days, and to also think of smart ways to get you into the kitchen, not alone, but with your kids!!!

You know what? I found them both! You will see all of my festive recipes during the holidays. As for the recipes that will get you into the kitchen with the kids? I have them here! Some of them are classic, all-time favorite and others are brand new, ready to…be tested by you and your kids! So, what do you think? Shall we start?

To start with, we have these Reindeer cereal bars! In fact, they are the classic cereal bars which are transformed into festive ones, through some simple moves.

Then, we have the Christmas trees brownies! Delicious, they can be prepared by your kids and decorated with festive elements which take the recipe one step further!

Christmas without a tree? Impossible! That’s why I prepared for you these…edible Christmas tree meringues!  And if you’re more the traditional type that prefers Greek customs, then I have for you this Gingerbread Christmas boat!!!

Next, we have a Chocolate gingerbread dough. I shaped it like the antlers of…Rudolf and -along with a yummy cake- I created the face of Santa Claus’s favorite reindeer!

Lastly, I have for you a slightly more…demanding construction. This is none other than these Gingerbread houses which are wonderful not only in taste but also in appearance.

Now, all you have to do is choose your own favorite recipes and get in the kitchen altogether, as a family, to prepare them. I can’t wait to see photos – not only of the treats but also of the little chefs at work!

Happy holidays!
