Annunciation to the Blessed Mary

One of the most important celebrations of the year is the Annunciations to the Blessed Mary. In Greece this is an exceptionally important and loved celebration since the Virgin Mary is a very important figure in the Greek culture.

Why is it held on the 25th of March? If you add 9 months you will understand exactly why this date was chosen in the 4th century A.D. Of all the Evangelists, Luke was the one to really shed light on this very important event. The rest of the Evangelists did not really talk much about it.

Of course the Annunciation was also spoken about by others in those times in the Apocryphal Gospels. Even in the Quran there is a great reference to this story and shows how this religious text was also influenced by Christianity.

It is generally a very happy celebration and even though it is the big fast of Lent, you are allowed to eat fish…

And now for some recipes I think you will love and simplify things for you… I know that the traditional dish is codfish so it might be helpful to take a look at this diary.
