Why is mom’s home cooked food the best in the world?

Each year, every second Sunday of May is always dedicated to our mothers! Every moment of our lives is connected with them but this particular day is held in their honor… It is the official celebratory day of every mother in the world! This is why I was inspired to write an article about this very special day…

If I were to ask you if there is any particular moment from your childhood years that you have connected with your mother, what would your answer be? I don’t know, but I believe that most of your answers would include a home cooked meal. Yes! That home cooked meal that ONLY she could make so tasty!!! If you really think about it, you may even come to the conclusion that ONLY she could cook so well. Ok, other moms cook tasty food but – I imagine – none cook as well as your own mother. And this is actually what I believed and I still believe it. My mom is the best cook in the world. I love her “Pastitsio” and each time I eat one bite of it, a million different memories come flooding back into my mind. Of course, this goes for any “mom-cooked” meal I eat. When she cooks, it’s as if she has the magical ability to add all of her love into the pot, as if it is an ingredient – and this love makes its way into my heart… with every bite. All of this leads me to the next question: What is it that makes most people believe that their mom is the best cook in the world? I have the answer for you my friends… and the more I go over it in my mind, the more I realize that this is most probably the case…

According to experts (researchers, psychologist and generally everyone that has researched this particular question), this is associated more with memories and habit than with the actual taste on its own. You see, all of the flavors you have come into contact with while growing up, were created by your mom’s hands and “connected” with happy memories. Even if some of these memories were not so happy, as soon as mom’s food made its appearance on the dinner table, you would instantly feel a warmth fill your heart. This warmth is the one that is brought about by these memories my friends. This “warmth” is the unique ingredient that each one of us can find only in our mother’s (and sometimes our grandmother’s!!) recipes and home cooked meals. This is what makes their food so delicious in a unique manner that can’t compare with anything else and makes it seem like it’s the best food in the whole world.

In honor of this very special day, I thought I would share 7 unique “mom-cooked” recipes that will turn out delicious, no matter who makes them. You know what though? They will turn out delicious even if it’s not a mom that makes them, but a dad! Or even a friend, cousin, brother, sister. So don’t worry! The result will be amazing! Let’s take a look at some of the best home-cooked “mom” meals…
