Festive desserts inspired by Christmas fairy tales

Christmas is not only for the kids…It is also for grown-ups since they have a chance to become kids again. Every part of our everyday lives turns even more magical. So, I got into that mood and I decided to share some special recipes with you that have two common characteristics: a sweet taste and…a fairy tale! Yes, yes, that’s right! Today, we will talk about sweet recipes inspired by all-time favorite children’s stories that we enjoy every Christmas through the pages of a book, via TV or music. Next step? To get in the kitchen with our little ones and create those that we like the best. Which are the alternatives, though? The truth is that there are plenty, and the ones below are among them…

Gingerbread house by Akis Petretzikis

Gingerbread house

Inspired by the fairy tale of «Hansel and Gretel»

The two siblings wouldn’t want to leave this Christmas gingerbread house right here. Why? Because they would love its flavor and they would go crazy with its aroma! Made of a delicious, crispy cookie and decorated with all sorts of candies, it is an all-time favorite festive decoration. It is, also, the perfect motive to set up a delicious Christmas pastry “workshop” in which the whole family can participate.

Chocolate house by Akis Petretzikis

Σοκολατένιες μπάλες & Chocolate Christmas houses

Inspired by the movie «Charlie and the Chocolate Factory»

Willy Wonka would get depressed if he saw these chocolate creations right here! Why? Because he would definitely want to make them his. What does that mean? That he would instantly give us the Golden Ticket to his factory in exchange for these two recipes! I don’t know about you, but I would possibly agree to that…

Amaretto chocolate truffles by Akis Petretzikis

Amaretto chocolate truffles

Inspired by the fairy tale «A Christmas Carol» by Charles Dickens

What is it that made us link these truffles to the particular fairy tale? The fact that you need only a few ingredients and so little time to make them, of course! Even the …grumpiest and stingiest person on earth could get in the kitchen to make them! The best part? As soon as he tried them, he would stop grumbling right away :-)

Snowman cake by Akis Petretzikis

Snowman cake

Inspired by the movie Frozen

The beloved snowman and best friend of Elsa and Anna is our inspiration for creating a cake shaped like…a snowman! He will be the sweetest snowman in the world and I’m sure that everyone, young and old alike, will enjoy every single minute of its preparation. But even more, we will enjoy the moment we eat our piece while watching our favorite Christmas movie!

Reindeer cake by the Greek chef Akis Petretzikis

Reindeer cake

Inspired by the story «Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer»

Rudolph becomes a super easy cake made of gingerbread dough with chocolate and it comes to prove that with a little imagination, we can create the most…fun desserts, easily and quickly! In fact, if we want, we can make mini cupcakes instead of a large cake, and then, we can decorate them exactly like the cake in this recipe right here.

Christmas almond tart by the Greek chef Akis Petretzikis

Christmas almond tart

Inspired by the movie «Home alone»

I guess that we have all seen the movie “Home alone”. But, what does it have to do with this particular tart? I will tell you right away: As soon as we make it, we will want to stay home alone so that we won’t have to share it with anyone!!! And what is its secret -apart from its rich cream and airy whipped cream? It is the Christmassy filling that we spread between the tart crust and its cream. A filling made with all the flavors and aromas of the holidays that they all -magically- go through the tart and create the ultimate festive dessert!

So, along with these recipes right here, I send you countless wishes to…create and have the sweetest Christmas of your life!
