Haven’t you decided which New Year’s cake to make yet? What do you mean you’ll get a store-bought one? And what are we here for? I’m sure that as soon as you read today’s diary, you’ll change your mind – or at least, you’ll think a liiitle bit more about the possibility of creating your own homemade New Year’s cake. Why? Because I have for you two super recipes for- even more super- New Year’s cakes!
Delicious, fluffy, “moist” and full-flavored. For many, this is considered the most classic New Year’s cake. It looks like a “cake”, but it’s a lot more than a simple cake. You can make it quite simple, with candied citrus fruits or not, filled with chocolate, sugar-free, covered with glaze, whipped cream, or…dusted with a lot of icing sugar. Generally, you can experiment a lot with the particular type of New Year’s cake. It has a very easy and quick preparation (e.g. compared with the preparation of the New Year’s sweet bread), while it goes best with our coffee or hot chocolate on New Year’s morning. It’s only disadvantage? It usually has more calories and fats than a sweet bread would have.

We could say that this one is the most…traditional version of the New Year’s cake. If you make it the right way, it’ll have an airy texture which will make your New Year cake a melt-in-your-mouth. You can make it quite simple, or with candied citrus fruits, dusted with icing sugar, glaze, or chocolate. If we compared it with the New Year’s cake, we’d observe that it’s a little more…difficult to make (it simply needs more time regarding not only its preparation but also its baking). Its advantages? Definitely, its incomparable aroma, while it usually has fewer fats than the New Year’s cake.
And now, we get to my favorite part… This is none other than me sharing with you original recipes full of imagination and flavor! What do they all have in common?
