French Toast with Greek Sweet Bread - Tsoureki

  • Vegetarian Diet

    Diet based on cereals, pulses, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits and other animal foods such as honey and eggs. Excludes meat, fish, mollusks.

French Toast with Greek Sweet Bread - Tsoureki


  • Place a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the water, sour cherries, sugar and cinnamon stick.
  • Stir with a wooden spoon and simmer until the mixture thickens and takes on the texture of marmalade.
  • In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon.
  • Add the slices of sweet bread and allow them to soak in the mixture.
  • Place a pan over medium to high heat and add the butter.
  • Toast the soaked slices for 3 minutes on each side, until golden.
  • Place the dark chocolate and white cholate in separate bowls and melt each one on a bain marie or in the microwave.
  • Spread marmalade in between 2 slices of sweet bread French toast to make each “sandwich”.
  • Drizzle with both types of melted chocolate and serve.
