Savory…desserts. What are they?

I imagine the title confused you a little…Something does not sound so right. Savory or…sweet? Both of them, I will answer you. This is because their recipes contain some savory elements that not only boost the flavor of these particular preparations, but also their whole appearance. Yes, my friends. This is a trend which is becoming more and more well-known and -as it all seems- it will keep being a trend since the recipes that come from the combination of sweet and savory elements are -truly- delicious!

A characteristic example? Simple… Think of the New York cheesecake – a combination of sweet and savory that has become an all-time favorite. And that’s also the case for the Greek all-time favorite Watermelon with feta cheese which we turned into a Watermelon with cheese mousse filling!!! Of course, we cannot leave out the salted caramel which -wherever it appears- steals the show, but also the classic Tiramisu which is made with mascarpone cheese!!! The examples are numerous…Among them, there are a few that are just starting to become known. A couple of them:

  • Cheese tea, for which we talked about a while ago. Let me freshen your memory…It’s a tea topped with whipped cream made of cream cheese.
  • Hot coffee with cheese cubes which have come to replace…marshmallows! We see it more and more on social media and people actually say that it’s interesting.

I know that all these may sound weird. But, I am determined to make you try this unbeatable combination of sweet and savory. In order to succeed in that, I gathered some delicious recipes that you could make at home by yourselves. They are not too…experimental, yet they are tested and incredibly SCRUMPTIOUS! Shall we take a look at them one by one?

So, I will start with this unique Cream cheese ice cream. Because cream cheese can ALSO be turned into ice cream and for those of you who don’t know it, with only 4 simple ingredients!

Next, we have the savory version of a cheesecake…Savory cheesecake with sweet cherry tomatoes. The savory element is more intense here, compared to the traditional cheesecakes, but it is definitely worth a try.
