Appetizer or main dish? Both, I’m telling you! It depends on your taste and appetite. One thing is for sure though: A bruschetta is the simplest, easiest, and fastest dish you can prepare in your kitchen even if you have no idea about cooking!
But how did they enter our lives and…our cooking? It is a traditional Italian delicacy, which was originally introduced as "food for the poor" and specifically for poor farmers. Gradually, the dry, stale bread used to make the bruschetta gave way to fresh focaccia, but also to other delicious, homemade doughs that became the perfect base for the dozens of ingredients used to prepare it.
Its main ingredient? Imagination! From there on, you can use some more ingredients that are probably already present in your kitchen. Extra virgin olive oil, fresh vegetables, leftover foods… Because, as you understand, bruschette can ALSO become a first-class leftover dish!
