Once again, imagination is one of the most basic ingredients in your kitchen. Why? Because you can transform the simplest ingredients into amazing treats. Take these yummy donuts for example. Did I say donuts? My mistake. I wanted to say apples! Apples can be transformed into a yummy, low on carb, homemade dessert! How? It’s much easier than you think. The only thing you’re going to need are a few apples, some yogurt (the quantity depends on the apples you will cover with it), some food coloring paste (you can find various colors and more here) and some multicolored sprinkled (one tablespoon is enough). What is the process? Here we go…
1. Wash the apples and cut them into rounds. Remove stem and pit before with the special tool. If you don’t have it, you can first cut them into rounds and then pit them using the tip of a pastry bag.
2. Add the yogurt into three bowls (depending on how many colors you’re going to use – one bowl for each color) and add to each bowl the color you want. You’re going to need a small quantity of color for your yogurt. It’s better to add the color in batches until you get the shade you want.
3. Spread the yogurt on the apples with a spoon and sprinkle with multicolored sprinkled before serving.
If you want, before spreading the yogurt on the apples, add some cinnamon to get an even better flavor and aroma. Finally, don’t forget: You can find apples throughout the year, but you already know that this is not their season. If you want, you can do the same thing with a different fruit like peach or even better, pineapple!
